Cause For Paws

Until you have held a tiny puppy in your arms as it kisses your face with slobbery puppy breath and felt their love,
Until you have held an injured or severely ill dog in your arms and felt their pain,
Until you have looked into the eyes of a tired aging senior dog that has been given away, and felt their wisdom,
And until you have seen and understood the look in your own dogs eyes that tell you their time on earth with you is over….and you humanely let them go,
You will never understand the life of a Rescuer.
We find beauty in the most incomprehensible places and the otherwise homely faces.
It’s our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that lies within.
We are Rescue…..

Who we are:

Cause for Paws Rescue is an all-breed rescue group made up of dedicated volunteers, who open their hearts and their homes to provide a safe haven for our orphans, who come to us from Animal Control, High-Kill Shelters and owner surrender situations.

Most of our group is made up of volunteers that were previously with Doberman Rescue. Dobermans will always remain near and dear to our hearts and we will continue to help Dobermans in needs as often as we can.

We have no shelter:

Our orphans are fostered in the homes of our volunteers throughout Illinois. They live in our homes along with our families, our other dogs and in some cases cats.

We, to the best of our ability, evaluate their temperaments, determine their personalities and behaviors, work on manners and house-breaking, and receive a lot of socialization.

Please note that our foster folks make the final decision and have complete discretion when placing their foster orphan into its forever home.

For the safety and convenience of our foster homes and their orphans, we will only consider applicants that are within a 100 mile radius. Thanks for understanding that homes outside of these boundaries are not normally considered eligible to adopt.

Some of our dedicated volunteers.
Lillian, the director of Cause for Paws and our fearless leader!
